Welcoming Prayer

What is it?

It’s simple. We welcome the moment just as it is, whatever it is, in the presence of God. Inherent within this practice is the invitation to sink deeper into whatever you are experiencing or feeling or not feeling. It’s a nice practice for those in-between times, when you are waiting or when you are anxious.

This prayer is primarily associated with Mary Mrozowski. This contemplative prayer practice actively welcomes and acknowledges all thoughts, emotions, and sensations arising in the present moment, essentially giving consent to God's presence and action within them, even when experiencing discomfort or challenges; it's about embracing the full spectrum of your inner experience without judgment, allowing for healing and transformation.

How to Begin?

First, without judgment, notice all thoughts, feelings, and sensations in your body.

Then, pray these words:

Welcome, welcome, welcome,

I welcome everything that comes to me in this moment.

I let go of my desire for security.

I let go of my desire for approval.

I let go of my desire for control.

I welcome this moment as it is.

God, I open up to your love and presence, your healing and grace.

Amen.
